Division of Biological Science, Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University invites applications for a full-time, tenured Professor position.

We encourage applicants who have shown world-class excellence in life science research. The successful candidate will organize a research group and teach in the Division of Biological Science.

Duties:
The successful candidate is expected to conduct:
1) Classes for graduate and undergraduate courses*;
2) Research supervision for master’s theses and Ph.D. dissertations;
3) Administration and management tasks;
4) Other ordinary duties.
*Possible undergraduate courses to be taught include:
• *Molecular Genetics Ia
• *Biological Chemistry II
• Part of Reading in Molecular Biological Science I
• Part of Laboratory Courses in Biological Science IV
• Advanced Experiments in Biological Science
• Part of G30 Classes and Laboratory Courses (educations for international students)
*Each course is equivalent to one 90-minute lecture per week for 15 weeks.

Qualifications:
1) Doctoral degree in any field of life science (e.g., biology, agriculture, medicine, or pharmacy)
2) Demonstrated ability to advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels to obtain the degree
3) Willingness to participate in teaching courses for Japanese and international undergraduate and graduate students,
and administrative duties
4) Strong expertise and evidence of success in life science research
5) English fluency sufficient to teach and guide international students
6) Japanese language proficiency is mandatory

Term:The contract will start on April 1, 2022.

Note: Nagoya University has the retirement age of 65 years old for this position.

2) List of research achievements— please separate original papers from the others
3) Summary of research experience— about 1,100 words (English) or 2,000 characters (Japanese)
4) Proposal for future research plans— about 550 words (English) or 1,000 characters (Japanese)
5) Statement of teaching philosophy, addressing the applicant’s ability to integrate creative thinking into the courses taught— about 550 words (English) or 1,000 characters (Japanese)
6) Evidence of achievements
1. Research grants received (2017-2021)
2. Invited lectures at any organization of international conferences (2017-2021)
3. Other participation in symposia, workshops and educational courses (2017-2021)
4. Activities in academic societies, prizes and awards
7) Three personal references from internationally recognized researchers with contact details
8) PDF files of five key articles (original papers only)
