International collaboration of the Biophysical Society of Japan

The Biophysical Society of Japan is contributing to the development of biophysical research worldwide as a member of the biophysical related associations in the world including Asia.

IUPAB: International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics

International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics was founded in 1961.
Japan has been an active member since the beginning. (Formal affiliated organization is Japan Science Council IUPAB Subcommittee)
Currently, about 50 countries and regions participate, contributing to exchange among researchers and promotion of biophysics.

ABA: Asian Biophysics Association

The Asian Biophysics Association is a coalition aimed at further development of biophysical research across Asia, which was established inheriting the East Asian Biophysics Symposium in 2005. The association holds a symposium at a frequency of once every three years to promote exchange of researchers. The 6th symposium was held in Hong Kong in January 2008.

ASB: Australian Society for Biophysics:

Since 2005, if you are a member of the Biophysical Society of Japan, you can participate in the annual meeting of the Australian Society for Biophysics with the same qualification as the Australian members, and if you are a member of the Australian Society for Biophysics, you can participate in the annual meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan with the same qualification as the Japanese members.

Biological Physics Commission in IUPAP (International Union of Pure and Applied Physics)

Among various commissions acting in International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, Biological Physics Commission, C6, was founded in 1990. Japan has been an active member since the beginning (Formal affiliated organization is Japan Science Council IUPAP Subcommittee). C6 promotes organization of international conferences and awards Early Career Scientist Prize, contributing to exchange among researchers and promotion of biological physics.
