It is my great pleasure to announce that the 57th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan will be held for 3 days from September 24 (Tue) to 26 (Thu) 2019 at Phoenix Seagaia Resort in Miyazaki, Japan. Preparation for the meeting is now under way with arranging meeting plan to meet everyone’s expectations and smooth operation.

Based on the experimental methods or theories in physics and engineering, biophysics has been progressing with repetitive daily researches and discussions to ravel variousbiological functions and phenomenon in layers from single molecule, supermolecule, cell, organ, individual, ecosystem to evolution. On the other hand, human society has experienced the Fourth Industrial Revolution involving big data and AI and is now seeing the Fifth Industrial Revolution also known as Society 5.0 which will have a big paradigm shift in cutting-edge medical care, drug development, nanotechnology, conservation of the environment, fishery and agriculture by merging biotechnology. Qualitative clarification of fundamental mechanism in biological functions and phenomenon using new measuring technology has been anticipated as not only having academic significance to ravel the enigma of life, but also being the basis of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. The meeting will contribute to the nurturing o f researchers from early in the morning till late at night by offering the venue to make them contact the progress of biophysics and discuss biological phenomenon from new approaches.

The organizing committee is now preparing for the meeting full of charms and memorable events. We welcome many abstract submissions and participations.
