Axonal Transport in Crayfish Axon

Transport of mitochondria (long tubular structures) and other orgenelles is observed in the walking leg giant axon of crayfish. The movement of submicrometer structures in the living axon was visualized by video-enhanced contrast differential interference contrast microscopy.
