Arp2/3 complex mediated actin nucleation

Managing Editor, MBInfo (www.mechanobio.info)Science Communications Facility,Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore Professor Steven Wolf

Arp2/3 is a protein complex of seven subunits that is involved in the nucleation and assembly of branched actin filaments. The Arp2/3 complex is highly conserved and is found in most eukaryotes. Branched nucleation by the Arp2/3 complex requires a preformed actin filament and is regulated by proteins such as WASp and Cdc42 which are depicted in this animation using stylized schematic models.
