Mycoplasma mobile gliding DIC

Species name: Mycoplasma

Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Daisuke Nakane

The Mycoplasma pneumonia is gliding on the surface of host by using motile machinery existing at one polar of bacterial cell. This special motility is related to pathogenicity of Mycoplasma. By using real time Differential interference contrast microscopy, the Mycoplasma species with the highest speed in Mycoplasma family, show about 4μm/s in this video.
