Time-lapse movie of male meiosis in Drosophila melanogaster.Spermatogenesis of Drosphila undergoes inside of a cyst that is covered with two somatic cyst cells.This cyst is dissected from the testis and primary cultured in a plastic dish. 16 primary spermatocytes divide into 64 spermatids during the meiosis. At the end of the movie you can see nulceus and round giant mitochondria in each spermatid.
