Effects of antibody on Mycoplasma mobile gliding (Gli349)

Species name: Mycoplasma

Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Daisuke Nakane

One projecting part looking like “foot” from the surface of Mycroplasma cell can catch, pull and release the sialic acid fixing to the glass so as to drive the cell to move forward. When we add the antibody of “foot” to movable Mycroplasma, the swimming speed is gradually decreased. Finally, cells stop moving.
