Species name: Sticholonche zanclea

Graduate School of Life Science, University of Hyogo Taniguchi Atsushi

Sticholonche zanclea is a radiolarian shaped like a sphere with a lot of spines on the surface. Its shape is unusual compared with other radiolarian. They usually move slowly, but Sticholonche zancles infested by a Dinoflagellate called Amoebophyra move the spines dynamically by the movement of Amoebophyra in the cell.
