Ceratium is a unicellular protist that belongs to a genus of the phylum Dinoflagellata. There are freshwater and marine Ceratium. Ceratium furca is a marine Ceratium and has one horn in the anterior parts of the cell and two different lengths horns in the posterior parts of the cell. Several species of Ceratium are known as causes of a red tide. Ceratium furca are a species of Ceratium causes a red tide.
