Species name: Mycoplasma

Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Daisuke Nakane

When the Mycoplasma is dealt with detergent, membrane fragments are dissolved in the detergent. Consequently, left spheroplasts stick to the surface of glass slide and no motility is observed. However, the spheroplasts start moving if treated with ATP. This result indicates that energy resource of motility is ATP.
