Phototaxis of Chlamydomonas

Species name: Chlamydomonas reinhardtii

Chemical Resources Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology Ken-ichi Wakabayashi

Phototaxis of Chlamydomonas cells. Their photoreceptor is sensitive to only blue-green light, and so they do not respond to red light. Green light is irradiated from left at 5 sec, and subsequently from top at 15 sec. They change their swimming directions rapidly in response to the change in direction of incident light.
