Cell-cell collision behavior of Myxococcus xanthus in experiments

種名: Myxococcus xanthus

Department of Bioengineering, Rice University, Houston, Texas, United States of America Professor Oleg A. Igoshin

Experimental time-lapse images showing collision between two isolated cells. As a result of this collision, only one of the cells changes its direction and another cell’s direction remains unaffected. This behavior is similar to the simulations with elastic coupling model of gliding motility indicating presence of strong elastic attachments between cell and substrate in M. xanthus gliding cells.
