Title
Emerging Mechano Biology

Organizers
Masahiro Sokabe (Nagoya University), Toshihiko Ogura (Tohoku University)

Synopsis
Recently much attention has been paid to the role of mechanical forces in life. It is now widely accepted that the mechanical force is an indispensable factor to support the morphology and function of cells, tissues, organs and individuals. Such a trend has created a novel interdisciplinary field “ MechanoBiology” by involving a variety of fields including biology, engineering and medical sciences. Furthermore, “MechanoBiology” has been employed as a time-limited discipline of “Kakenhi” from this year. Taking advantage of this opportunity, we would like to set the stage for leading this new discipline through this symposium, where leading scientists from a variety of fields will present latest achievements in their mechanobiology researches.

Speakers
・Masahiro Sokabe (Nagoya University): Gating mechanisms of MS channels
