The advancement of the computer network has dramatically changed the methods of information exchange in any field of the research activity. Application to annual meetings, viewing periodicals, submitting manuscripts, searching for news and exchanging data on experiments are now all carried out by Email or through a homepage. This change in researchers life style has made the Society put far more stress on the homepage management. The Biophysical Society of Japan foresaw the importance of the Internet and started managing the homepage since around 1998.

Homepage has its value in delivering information related to the Society with accuracy and speed. To achieve maintain this value, the Biophysical Society of Japan founded Homepage Working Group (HPWG) under the committee and make the group build, maintain, administrate and update the homepage. The members of the group are either young scientists with up-to-date technical skills to keep the homepage modern enough, and senior scientists with insight to lead the homepage to the best way.

A number of scientific communites have been outsourcing the burden of building and maintaining their homepages recently. The Biophysical Society of Japan, however, will keep managing the homepage by our own hands for the time being. The homepage of the Society, therefore, remains to be naive, but we believe that this is the way to maintain the homepage as an accurate and rapid information source.

To improve the homepage of the Society, we need comments from the members. Send creative comments to our office. Thanks in advance.
