募集職種：国際ポストドクトラル研究員　5名

目的：海洋研究開発機構（JAMSTEC）では、海洋・地球科学研究分野の博士号をもつ優れた若手研究者が、その研究課題をより卓越した業績へと発展とさせる事を目的とし、国際ポストドクトラル研究員制度を設けています。当該制度で採用されたポストドクトラル研究員には、スタートアップ資金および基礎研究費として（1年目は1,000千円、2年目以降はその半額を予定）が支給されます。また在任中は、研究活動を行うにあたり、JAMSTECの研究設備等が利用できます。

募集内容：当該制度採用者は、JAMSTECの研究者と協力しつつ、自立して自身が提案する研究課題を遂行することが求められます。 在任中は、研究活動を行うにあたり、JAMSTECの研究設備等が利用できます。 国際ポストドクトラル研究員にはそれぞれ担当のメンターが指名されます。メンターは、ポストドクトラル研究員が研究活動を円滑に遂行できるよう助言をし、年度ごとに進捗状況の評価をします。 またポストドクトラル研究員は入国に関する手続きや住居を探す際など、JAMSTECからのサポートを受けることが出来ます。

関連分野の博士号取得者（採用日までに取得見込みの者を含む）。
博士号を取得した年度の末日から採用までが5年以内である事。
（平成23年4月以降に学位を取得した者。）

Available Position : JAMSTEC is recruiting a total of 5 JAMSTEC Postdoctoral Fellow positions.

Aim of the Position : JAMSTEC wants to help talented young researchers who have completed promising Ph.D. theses to develop their scientific excellence in the fields of ocean and earth sciences. For this purpose, JAMSTEC has established an international postdoctoral fellowship programme. It is intended that research grants will be provided to successful applicants which will facilitate smooth start-up of his/her research in JAMSTEC (¥1,000,000 for the first fiscal year and ¥500,000 for each of the second and third years). The successful applicant will also have access to the necessary facilities and equipment at JAMSTEC during the contract period.

Job Description : Successful applicants to this programme are expected to conduct scientific work independently on research topics of their own proposing or to proceed with research in collaboration with JAMSTEC staff. The successful applicant will also have access to the necessary facilities and equipment at JAMSTEC during the contract period.
A mentor will be designated to each JAMSTEC Postdoctoral Fellow, who will facilitate his/her research activities and evaluate research progress each year.
During the fellowship period, the administration section of JAMSTEC will provide support regarding personal issues (e.g., preparing immigration documents, finding an apartment, etc).

Any natural science field related to Oceanography and/or the Earth Sciences

Requirements : Applicants are required to have been awarded or expect to have obtained a Ph.D. in a related field by the date of employment. In addition, no more than five years may have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment. (Applicants who earned a Ph.D. after April, 2011 will be eligible.)
